How would you make a board game?

Vince Delarge: InDesign. InDesign makes it easy to design the board cards and everything else. I made a game once. I just never really got around to printing it off.In case you don't know InDesign is an Adobe program.

Delmer Pectol: FIRST I WOULD FIND SOMETHING I LIKE .THEN I WOULD GET A PIECE OF CARD BOARD OR DRAW THE BOARD ON A PIECE OF PAPER ...MOST OF THE TIME I THINK OF A NAME AND I TRY TO GET AN OBJECT IN MY HAND THE FORMULA MUST BE PLAYED OUT USING PENNIES OR A SIZE THAT I LIKE TO MAKE THE SPACES TO MOVE ALONG LET US SAY THAT YOU WANT TO MAKE A GAME DEALING WITH YOUR FAIMLY THEN YOU ARE TO WRITE DOWN THINGS LIKE MOM HAD A WAY ABOUT HER ...ON A CARD WITH THE NAME OF YOUR GAME ON THE BACK I LIKE TO LAMANATE MY CARDS I LIKE TO PRINT UP ABOUT 200 CARDS THAT ARE NOT QUESTIONS BUT STATEMENTS THAT WAY ANYONE CAN ANSWER THEM AS THEY CHOOSE ..ALSO I PUT IN MOVE CARDS LIKE YOU MUST GO HOME NOW BACK 11 SOMETHING TO DEAL WITH HOME AND YOUR GROWING UP THIS WAY YOU MIGHT! Ignacio Imbier: My input...Decide what type game you want to create and how movement will be determined - answering questions, rolling dice, etc. There are a Lot of mechanics you could consi! der using for a game - "trivia" (questions) and "roll and move! " (dice) are the very basic ones. Here's a link for many different mechanics that you could consider when creating a game:http://www.boardgamegeek.com/browser.php?itemtype=...For a board, the easiest thing is to "cannibalize" an old game that's not being used. Go check out your local resale shops (Goodwill, Salvation Army) or garage sales. You can usually find board games very inexpensive - only a couple of dollars max. Trivial Pursuit, Monopoly, Sorry are all good ones to use.Use the board, but make some changes in the appearance - custom graphics, etc. Use the existing playing pieces cuz you'll need pieces. I have a friend who is a game designer, and for game cards he uses the computer packets of business cards that you can purchase from office supply stores.Like these from Office Depot:* Avery® Laser Clean-Edge Business Cards, 2" x 3 1/2", White, Pack Of 200 Cards @ $14.49(I had to put this link down in the source section cuz Yahoo only allows 10 links up here...)The ga! me ends when a pre-determined goal is reached - number of points or collecting pieces (like Trivial Pursuit's "pie") or traveling from one point to another (like Sorry).Of course those examples are Very Basic ones. Depending on the market you're trying to appeal to, you'll probably want to develop something a bit more range specific.I'd DEFINITELY suggest that you check out BoardGameGeek (aka BGG, aka "The Geek").
