Why can't I see my other computers and devices that are connected to my network?

Ruby Martis: Are you in the same workgroup?Make sure you have both computers connecting to the same workgroup first of all.You can do this by clicking start, going to My Computer and RIGHT-clicking on it, selecting properties, then clicking advanced system settings, clicking on the Computer name tab, and looking to make sure that the workgroup is the same for both computers. If not change it so that they are and then reboot the computer for the changes to take effect. Also, make sure both computers have different names. Are you running any type of Norton Internet Security software on either the laptop or the Living Room PC?What are you running on the Living Room PC? XP? Edit:Wanted to check back and see if you'd resolved this. You could also try turning off realtime protection on both computers in the Microsoft Security Essentials software. Also, If you ran any other Internet security software, you might want to make sure they were completely uninstalled and didn't leave! remnants of the software in the registry, etc.I looked up a little info about networking for windows 7 and found another answer pertaining to someone who had an issue with being unable to see the windows 7 computer on their network.Check the answer located in my source reference and see if that possibly helps.I'm pretty sure that if your using the same workgroup, and your computers are not named the same, then as long as your configuration is set up correctly, then there might be something with MSE keeping them from seeing each other. Check into the settings in MSE and make sure you have (basic) file sharing enabled. You could disable it altogether on both computers and see if it works. At least you'd narrow it down to whether MSE was the culprit or not.Hopefully this will help....Show more

Whitley Leopold: I am running Microsoft Security Essentials on both computers. I was using the wi-fi on my HD2 Phone, and notice it doesn't come up on my networks either. Same go! es for my PSP that I have.
