Tricia Dossous: Common sense would tell you motorcycels are more fuel efficient. They way a ton or two less than cars and SUV's plus they are smaller so there is less wind resistance which also helps with fuel efficiency. As for how fuel efficient bikes are a Ninja 250 probably gets 80 mpg, my Suzuki VS800 gets between 50 and 60. A big Harley probably gets 40-50....Show more
Carlton Lastrapes: pound for pound bikes are much worse than most cars. But because they weigh so much less, they will get a lot more miles to a gallon. usually around 50 for a good portion of the industry. I don't know if the same holds true about scooters. The seem to get little better mileage with a huge trade off in power, so it seems as if they are the worst pound for pound.
Jose Bouliouris: motorcycles use less gas, cause they weigh lessunlike cars, that way 3000 poundsand need a 100 hp engine just to movemotorcycles are super light, therefor, less powerful engine, and more mpgsame w! ith mopesmopeds usually get about 100 mpg...Show more
Merna Fauset: Yes, motorcycles are more fuel efficient than highly efficient cars. they have far less weight to move and smaller engines. Even a large Harley Electra Glide gets 54 MPG hwy. Smaller bikes can get 60+ MPG hwy. Mopeds and scooters can top out at well over 100 MPG.
Russ Kiernan: im curious on another note. did you just answer your own question?
Lita Thammorongsa: weight is the most contributing factor of gas mileage on a motorcycle
