Jacques Vaquera: Different insurance companies have their own exclusions. Like the one I am with will not treat a pre existing condition for the first year. Many I have had will treat preexisting conditions. Read through and try to sort it out and then call the company and find out. Just exactly what does the booklet you have state.
Victor Macallister: If you are newly enrolled, and you had something occur back then for which you needed treatment, how could that not be a pre-existing condition?
Chastity Doderer: You have a pre-existing condition, even though you have not had treatment within the last 12 months you still get back pain now so that condition does exist now if you answer no you shall find yourself in hot water when old x-ray's etc. show up your condition they shall be able to tell that you have that condition today be very careful as i would hate to see you caught out. I have a pre-existing condition which was operated on over 10 years ago but! it was recorded recently for travel insurance as pre- existing I hope this will help you Good Luck...Show more
Krystal Cordovano: Ask your Blue Cross representative what their definition is because you are unclear.....all insurance companies have different rules and definitions. The only states that are more "forgiving" when it comes to pre-existing conditions are Maryland and Washington state....be sure you check with your state too! I have a friend that wound up getting a partial lamenectomy and now she is fine, but she also ran up the bills in the process (and that is with insurance). She wound up negotiating with her physician on treatment prices, finding that a hospital; across town not only accepted her insurance, but was half the price, and she saved receipts and was able to write some of her transportation, consultations, gas etc off on her taxes.....all of these suggestions I read about in the book "Healthcare for Less", by Michelle Katz, and now my frien! d has a copy of the book as a reference. There are ways you c! an save money on your healthcare that you may not even know you qualifiy for....and if your insurance does not cover a treatment, you may have to find other resources...this book will give you a "heads up" before you go into debt and prepare you against it...and yes, the surgery went well.....she went to a neurosurgeon for a second opinion (also advised in the book)....Show more
Wilmer Skidmore: Here is the definition of "pre-existing condition" as found in BlueCross's glossary."Pre-existing Conditions are those health conditions which were diagnosed or treated by a provider during the 12 months prior to the coverage effective date, or for which symptoms existed which would cause an ordinarily prudent person to seek diagnosis or treatment. "Notice it says "during the year" and does not say "one year or longer"....Show more
