I am applying for an internship with a conservation organization. Need help w/ my objective.?

Alphonso Brake: Personally, I think you're missing out of the opportunity to say something about being "passionate about culture, history and nature/the environment" ... or something to that effect. If you can document other ways in which this "passion" displays itself (ie classes you've taken, your major, clubs in high school, membership in related organizations) that would be good.Though I suppose you can only put so much into an "objective" ...so how about:To obtain a position in the conservation or environmental field to further develop my deep interest in the environment and related fields. Through an internship I can achieve this as well as serve and interact with the community. You're on the right track. If you have more room to respond to the "why," provide more background...how it synchs with your interests, what graduate programs you intend to pursue, etc....Show more

Rona Ising: Try focusing on climate change and global warming and how it is affecting ou! r universe. Talk about how you want to contribute so your children will have a world to live in.

Donita Desjardin: You might think about the following points, although you might not want to mention some.Typically the reasons for seeking an internship include (1) it gives you an opportunity to see if you like the field. (2) You get to evaluate a prospective employer. (3) The prospective employer gets to evaluate you. (4) You get to put some of your training to use. (5) It gives you an “in” with a prospective employer. (6) It looks good on a resume....Show more
